The skiers of Kay Bojesen are a new edition of the cute design by the Danish designer from the 1940s and will soon be whizzing into your living room! The one with the red cap and checkered jacket is called Boje, named after Kay Bojesen s son Otto, who is nicknamed after him. His colleague bears the nickname of Otto's wife Ruth - Datti. The two cheeky skiers were originally only produced in small series, which is why the original wooden figures are now real rarities. The new edition of the skier is made of painted beech.
Kay Bojesen with its user-friendly and modern design language is one of the great Danish functionalists. In his naive designs, form and object, seriousness and play merge into a unity. At the same time, Bojesen had the unique ability to bring wood to life, which has made his works international design icons.
The Danish manufacturer Rosendahl Design Group produces the wooden animals from Kay Bojesen in close cooperation with its family from high-quality wood, which gains in charm over the years. Bojesen himself has dedicated his whole life to the mantra that good design should be human, warm and lively: "They should remind you of a circus", he usually described his works, of which the charming wooden figures are among the most popular.
