Alessi Design: Italian Tradition
The Italian company Alessi exists since 1921 – the founding year of the foundry and metal factory by Giovanni Alessi Anghini.
Already in the 50ies, international hotels, restaurants and airlines have been supplied with high quality metal products, like bread baskets, sugar bowls and fruit bowls. Nowadays, the name Alessi stands for Italian design and timeless design classics.
Alessi Collections
The name Alessi comprises three big brands, that are not independent identities, but rather three different expressions of the same corporate identity.
Alessi
The Alessi brand heads the assortment of the most selected, industrially made products for household items, regarding quality and design. Design classics such as the legendary citrus press Juicy Salif by Philippe Starck or the popular Birillo bathroom series by Piero Lissoni are offered under the Alessi brand.
A di Alessi
This brand presents products in what is known as “democratic design” – the best design at affordable prices. Besides colorful collections such as Banana or Paradise Birds by Stefano Giovannoni, there are also some original Christmas figures by Massimo Giacon, Marcello Jori or Laura Polinoro under the name of A di Alessi.
Officina Alessi
The brand “OFFICINA ALESSI” stands for an exclusive, experimental and innovative design philosophy. While still affordable, the products in this collection are a bit more expensive since they are produced in small batches or even in limited editions. Renowned architects and designers such as Richard Sapper or Aldo Rossi designed some of the rare products of the noble collection. The project “Tea and Coffee Piazza” brought Alessi international recognition as one of the leading representatives of postmodern design.
In addition to those three brands, there are also some collections made by Alessi with products apart from household items.
Alessi Watches
Alessi watches manufacturer Seiko jointly produce a continuously growing collection of watches since 2002. Several internationally renowned architects and designers are responsible for the watches that are sold worldwide as part of Alessi's "Watches Collection", whose individual styles and methods are mirrored in the unmistakable character of every Alessi watch.
